Apart from cupcakes, Peanut butter, Champagne and Armani, another one of my favourite things is Gin.
The clear spirit, referred to in the 17th century as 'strong water made with Juniper' has come a long way since only being used for medicinal purposes or for 'Dutch Courage'.
One of the most popular drinks Gin has been used in for years, is the Martini. The Martini has often served as a metaphor for political and social issues and have been closely related to the Meaning of Life. Therefor it is obvious that Gin forms an important part of the Meaning of Life.
I think Gin is one of the reasons I enjoyed my trip to Spain so much earlier this year. Although Gin originated in Holland, and developed into its popular style in England, Spain has the highest consumption of Gin per capita in the world today. Now that's what I am talking about.
I thought the perfect recipe to kick of this blogspot with is a Gin cocktail, called The French Pearl. It was created by Audrey Saunders, in New York. It takes two minutes to prepare, it's sweet, but also not sweet, perfectly balanced and refreshing (as usual).
Cheers!
